PASS’ Nick Bowman and Genia Bettencourt Selected for NASPA Career Awards

The National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Faculty Council awarded and recognized Nick Bowman and Genia Bettencourt for their achievements and contributions in student affairs and higher education.

Bowman has been recognized with the Faculty Council Mid-Career Award for his outstanding contributions to research, teaching and service within the student affairs field. His work demonstrates a strong record of scholarly achievement through publications and presentations, along with a commitment to innovative and effective teaching. He is also known for his dedication to mentoring students and supporting the development of early-career faculty. In addition, Bowman has made meaningful contributions through leadership and service at the institutional, national and community levels. He serves as a Professor in the University of Iowa College of Education’s Higher Education and Student Affairs program and is the PASS project's Co-Principal Investigator.

Bettencourt, Assistant Professor of Higher and Adult Education at the University of Memphis and PASS Qualitative Research Team Lead, was awarded the Early Career Award. NASPA, one of the two leading organizations in student affairs, recognizes a full-time faculty member within six years of entering that role that has distinguished themselves by producing published scholarly works, being an excellent teacher and contributing to the field through their service.
