Researchers on the Pullias Center’s PASS team have chapters included in two recently-published books centered around sense of belonging and ecological validation.
The Impact of a Sense of Belonging in College, edited by Erin M. Bentrim and Gavin W. Henning, features a chapter from Ronn Hallett, Adrianna Kezar, Joseph Kitchen, and Rosemary Perez, who discuss how to best “facilitate a sense of belonging for students with multiple identities.” The chapter continues the book’s larger theme — the intersecting relationship of sense of belonging and identity exists and needs to be addressed to allow for progress.
The second book, Delivering on the Promise of High-Impact Practices informs readers of instances in which educators from around the country promoted fidelity, achieved scale, and strengthened assessment of their own local high-impact practices. Kezar, Hallet, Kitchen, and Perez highlight their own work of ecological validation at the University of Nebraska with the PASS research project in the chapter: “Mapping the connections of validation and high impact practices.” Both books are available for purchase through Stylus Publishing or Amazon.
